As part of our big GISS 2013 summit in February, we pledged to plant enough trees to offset the carbon footprint of the summit. That means we need to plant about 625 trees! Today a group of teachers and students set out to plant 250 trees at Rungiri Secondary School just outside of Nairobi. This is a school where one of our Golden Heart students, Washington, is a student, and his group organized everything at the site, including the digging of many holes. We planted an amazing array of indigenous trees (some quite rare), spent time with the students and enjoyed learning a lot from forester Robert (Eco-Challenge). What a great morning!
