More footballs to the Rift Valley...

On Monday, June 17, Cora delivered 15 more One World Futbols to the Rift Valley. Working with our contacts at the Vumilia IDP camp, we stopped at the soccer club there (and saw all of the soccer balls that have been destroyed by thorns and barbed wire), the nearby Jikaze IDP soccer club, the Maahi Mahui Primary School and the What If? NGO soccer club. It was a wonderful day, full of the smiles of many young soccer players and many enthusiastic kicks and passes.

Delivering One World Futbols with Cora...

This year, we're hanging around Kenya for an extra few weeks so that Cora can volunteer with an organization called One World Futbol. This organization works a bit like Tom's Shoes, in that whenever a ball is purchased in North America or Europe, another ball is slotted to be donated to a community in a developing nation. Cora's job is to deliver balls to some of our Freedom Through Learning partners near Amboseli and the Rift Valley and then blog about her experiences and create an album of amazing photos. Some of my shots are featured here but check out Cora's blog (http://www.photography360.tumblr.com/) in a few days to see her amazing photos from four Maasai schools near Amboseli National Park.

20th Anniversary Trip to Diani Beach...

To celebrate our 20th anniversary, Brian and I spent three lovely days on the south coast of Kenya. Diani beach is beautiful with huge expanses of white sand and a beach bar right beside our little cottage where you could sip cold Tusker and listen to the waves (while fending off beach boys, of course!). It was a wonderful way to reflect on 20 years of blessings.

Favourite Kenyan birds...

We are decorating our guest room with a bird theme and, in preparing to frame some prints for one wall, I spent some time going through our photos from the last few years. We have seen some amazing birds here in Kenya and this post is devoted to some of our favourites so far.
