Party with the lads

This past weekend saw about 30+ great guys from TCIS heading to a retreat near Mokcheon, South Korea. Highlights include praise & worship time, great food and meaningful conversation with some Godly men. Other great stuff: sled races on the artificial snow mountain, watching the Korean and Japanese national soccer teams play to a 1-1 draw ("IGO!), and having our feet exfoliated by the Dr. Fish. Check out the photos and video link!

Love and Marriage... Horse and Carriage...

Last weekend a bunch of married couples gathered together to celebrate Valentine's Day with a nice dinner, a "Newlyweds"-style game featuring couples from around the world (our South African friends were the hands-down winners, by the way!), and some dancing. It was a lot of fun and our Activity Centre was transformed into a lovely, romantic setting. (And sorry, Jaci, I couldn't resist posting the photo of you in the Conga line!)

Some more Pics from the Philippines!!

Rebecca in the Philippines!! =D

While my mom was enjoying her time with the kids in India, I was out working for Habitat for Humanity. We spent about 4 full days in total (8 hours each) building houses. We did framing, digging, foundation, and moving rocks! It turned out to be a lot harder than I thought, but we all worked really hard and got a lot of work done!!! On some of our days would be spent going to a waterfall in the middle of the jungle or swimming in the hot springs near our resort. One day we even got to see the mayor!! :) It was really an amazing trip!! Being there and working with the volunteers was an amazing and eye opening experience! Even though the trip was a lot of hard work, it was really worth it and through this trip all of us built really good friendships with some of the volunteers! The Philippines is truly a country of need and I was so glad that I got the opportunity to serve there!~

Adventures in India...

From February 2 - 10, I (LeeAnne) was blessed by being able to travel to Bangalore, India. The bulk of my week was spent serving at an orphanage called Beulah Home with 9 TCIS students and 3 other staff members. We had the privilege of hugging and loving over 100 children all week, and we led songs, games and lessons as well. We had a few days of exploring in Bangalore, as well, including some sari shopping and elephant riding. It was an incredible week, and the vibrancy and chaos of India was exhilarating.

More stuff you see in Korea...

Celebrating Rebecca's return...

What better way to celebrate Rebecca's return from the Philippines than with a nice dinner out at our favourite Italian restaurant. We heard all about the great experiences that Rebecca had. She'll make a post for all to see... soon. LeeAnne returns one day later...

A Quiet Walk in the Snow

While things were gray and colourless down at street level, Brian found things a little more snowy (and slippery) up on Bomun mountain. Things just weren't the same without LeeAnne, his usual hiking buddy. **sniff, sniff**

Little India

While LeeAnne is in India we thought it would be nice to do something Indian. Using some mhendi supplies that we had lying around we created temporary tatoos. Don't worry. They'll fade... in two or three weeks!

Daddy's Day Out

While the girls stayed around home reading, making crafts and relaxing, Brian sneaked out for a little fun on his own.

Stop #1: The sauna. If you've never experienced the Korean public bathhouse, you have not lived. Sauna temperature: 83.4 degrees. Pool temperature: 18.5 degrees. Wow. That's refreshing. Clothing is not optional. There is no clothing. And there are no photos.

Stop #2: Lunch and a movie with my friend, Mac. The movie was another example of the top-notch film industry that thrives here in Korea. Plot summary of 슈퍼맨이었던 사나이 : the main character is a psychotic middle-aged man who believes he is Superman. His "Lois Lane" is a jaded television reporter who begins tracking Superman's daily life. Her doubts begin to dissolve as our hearts begin to melt. There were no subtitles, but none were needed. What we lacked in linguistic abilities, the director made up for with great storytelling. We were riveted to our seats. Check out the preview if you like: http://www.superman2008.co.kr/

ps - check out the photo shot from the back seat of the taxi. Yes, that's a guy pushing a cart along the street and yes, that's our taxi driver watching television while driving. Never a dull moment.

Stop #3: Coffee & conversation with another friend, Tom Norton. He's a great guy with a big heart for serving the Lord here with his family. And he loves coffee. Drat, the chat was so good that I forgot to take a photo!

Downtown with the Girlz

While the cat's away, the mice will play...

The three of us decided to go downtown to see what fun we could find... Here's what we found... tea and tiramisu at an Italian restaurant, a photo-booth, a truck-load of eggs, boxes of silk-wrapped goodies for the Seolnall holiday and a store that sold cameras and pistols (is that real?). Good times.
