Wonderful visits from friends near and far...

In the international teaching world, people's paths cross all the time and in wonderful (and often unexpected) ways. Today we were so lucky to spend time with some former colleagues (and a former student) who were here in Shanghai for conferences. George and Charmaine (now in Addis, where we also visited, and originally colleagues from South Korea) were the guests of honour at lunch with former TCISers Lisa and Kirk, Barb and Tim, and us. Later in the afternoon, Brian and I got to catch up with friend Chris McBride (former colleague and friend from the AISA Service Learning Working Group) and former student Jared Peirera. Add in shalongbao dumplings (many of them!) and a beautiful, large moth that was very attracted to the pattern on my shirt and you have the recipe for a great time. What a wonderful day visiting and catching up and celebrating the wonders of this global nomad lifestyle.

One of our favourite Shanghai restaurants...

We love when Restaurant Week is on in Shanghai, with its great deals for lunch and dinner at many restaurants across the city. One of our favourite places, Thought For Food, is all about local, organic food and the flavour combinations are fantastic. We introduced Patrick and Anne to this place last weekend and they declared it's their new favourite restaurant, too. It's THAT good.   :)
