A weekend island adventure...

Last year I found some articles online about some abandoned fishing villages on an island about 5 hours from Shanghai. It was really hard to find out how to get to the island but, after a lot of internet research and help from my high school secretary to book tickets online in Chinese, we ventured out to the island this weekend. And it was amazing! We explored Houtouwan from above and on foot after taking a boat ride around to the village. We ate lots of local food and toured the fish market. And we walked up to the local temple and interacted with a lot of wonderful, welcoming islanders.
