Amsterdam stop-over…

To combat the woes of an empty nest, Brian and I stopped for four days in Amsterdam on our way back to Nairobi. We stayed in a 100-year-old houseboat called the Rico and enjoyed every bit of Amsterdam that we could. We walked through numerous neighbourhoods, boated along the canals, sipped ginevre with the locals, attended the massive Pride parade, viewed art at the Van Gogh Museum and cycled out to Zaanse Schans to see working windmills. It was a fabulous taste of Europe (but the house still felt really empty when we got back…).
