LeeAnne and Brian managed to sneak away from Ontario for a little vacation in Québec City this summer. Visitors who have suggested a resemblance to Europe are not exaggerating! The historic Plains of Abraham, site of a decisive French/English battle for control of the region, are now a beautifully inviting park. In the old city, the stone buildings and cobblestone streets date back to the 1700s. The city is filled with ancient curiosities, including a cannonball lodged in a tree from the troublesome days gone by.
Our innkeeper, Claude, steered us to the best of Québecois cuisine; we even returned to the same restaurant twice to enjoy the bison steak. One evening we enjoyed live fiddle music in a cozy pub. On another, we joined in a Cirque du Soleil parade. What a place! Magnifique!
