Waterfalls and mountains... just 30 minutes away

On Saturday (August 23rd), Brian and I ventured to a nearby mountain park called Gyreongsan National Park. We have been meaning to get to this park for two years, and we are so glad we went! It was stunningly beautiful, with several mountain peaks and many trails. There were also some interesting temples and pagodas and a thriving tourist town at the base of the mountains. The most fascinating thing for us, though, was the number of waterfalls we encountered along our hike. Gushing rivers and streams abounded along our route and one set of twin falls fell a dazzling long way from the side of one mountain into a deep clear pool. It was so beautiful. The top of the mountain was shrouded in mist, so the views from the top weren't so grand (you can see the mountain peak - with its blanket of mist - in the photo of the temple complex with mountains in the background). But the scenery along the way made up for any views we have missed at the top. Now, if we could only convince the girls to join us in our hiking excursions...
