Some Images of Our Destination

Tajeon Christian International School (TCIS) has been around nearly 50 years. As you can see from the photos, the buildings range from the vastly modern to "retro."

We have a date...

Whew! It looks like a compressed summer schedule for the Lavender folk this year.

We taxi down the runway on August 2 and should arrive in Korea sometime the following day.

That means cram-o-rama for summer fun. Let's see... first stop: Kincardine; next stop: Washington, D.C.; third stop: our house for supplies; then: Kincardine again; finally: South Korea!

Better get cracking and start packing!

Destination: Taejon, South Korea

It’s kind of crazy, but it’s true. Our entire family is off to east Asia for a two-year adventure.

Our destination is the city of Taejon, South Korea. (Sometimes spelled Daejeon).

Picture a little city of only a million-and-a-half (quite small compared to South Korea’s capital of Seoul - population 10,000,000). Ancient Korean mountain-top temples overlook the technological centre of development in this thoroughly modern country.

It is in this setting that Taejon Christian International School thrives. To its 600 K-Grade 12 students, TCIS offers a renowned education that meets high international standards. It also offers students a place to grow in their Christian faith through sound teaching and authentic work projects including a partnership with a local orphanage and a Habitat For Humanity build in the Philippines.

What a thrill it will be for the Lavender family as we work and learn together in South Korea later this year. We truly feel that God has removed all obstacles to this amazing opportunity. We're leaving at the end of July and we plan to return for 3 weeks at Christmas and 8 weeks in the summer.

Check in with our "blog" weekly! More pictures are coming shortly!
