A weekend hiking in an endless bamboo forest... enchanting!

We spent the weekend about 3 hours from Shanghai (by fast train and then car), tucked into a small hotel at the end of road, surrounded by a massive and endless bamboo forest. It was absolutely magical. We hiked and hiked and loved the small village just down the road from the lodge. Everyone was kind and warm; rice was drying on driveways and streets, and being cut and threshed in the fields. What a fabulous getaway from Shanghai. We will definitely be back to visit many times.

Foodies & Halloween = Fun!

Our foodie group gathered at our place on Saturday for a night of good food and drink on an Eastern fusion theme. Because it was Halloween weekend, we also threw some costumes into the mix and had a great, great night. Brian made bibimbap with black rice and daikon radish mixed with a yummy gochujang sauce. Delicious!

Trekkie fun in Shanghai...

For Star Trek fans, it was impossible to miss an exhibit in Shanghai this month featuring costumes, props and sets from the movies and TV shows. Fun times with fun friends!    :)
