Staycation fun for Chinese New Year!

It was a gorgeous day in Shanghai today, with temperatures around 20 degrees and lots of sunshine - a perfect day to get on our bikes and cycle downtown, hop on the ferry to cross the Huangpu River and explore a bit of the Puxi side on 2 wheels. The crowds around Yuyuan Gardens were absolutely crazy because of the Chinese New Year holiday and there were big groups of policemen keeping the river of pedestrians flowing at crosswalks. Getting through with our bikes was an adventure! We made it to Tock's Montreal Deli only to find they were closed (must go back later in the week) and decided on pizza at The Press instead. Along the way there and back we discovered some interesting things... We love this city! Now, if only the temperatures weren't dipping back to normal levels tomorrow (5-10 degrees). The chicken sprouts we bought along the way will keep our spirits up, though: the Year of the Rooster has started well!

Back to Shanghai adventures...

Back in Shanghai, weekend fun continues with shows such as Riverdance at the Shanghai Grand Theatre and dinner and drinks out to enjoy the city at night. We're lucky to live in a pretty magical place all year round.

And back to Marrakech...

Our holiday ended with another lovely stay in the Marrakech medina, in a 300-year-old riad. Wonderful! We'll be dreaming of our Moroccan adventures for a long time.

Camels and quads in the Sahara...

The dunes of the Sahara desert are beautiful, and the sun in Morocco casts a lustrous golden glow over everything in the late afternoon. While it was freezing cold at night in our desert tents, it was totally worth it to experience this beautiful landscape.

Crepes by the ocean...

A day in Essouira, eating fresh seafood and wandering by the ocean along ancient city walls... pretty dang magical.
