Beautiful sunbirds...

The sunbirds in our yard have been so active lately, building nests and flitting around. They are so beautiful.

Hannah's Graduation at ISK...

On Friday, May 25th, 80 ISK seniors walked across the stage in our auditorium to accept their diplomas and celebrate four years of hard work in high school. We cannot believe that our beautiful, wonderful Hannah is all done high school. We will miss her so much!

Cool critter...

The other day, Brian found another cool critter on campus. This gorgeous caterpillar must turn into a spectacular butterfly or moth. We have to track its name to figure out what metamorphosis will bring for this critter.

The beginning of graduation week...

This is a big week for the seniors at ISK, and for our family as we celebrate graduation with Hannah. She finished her IB exams on Tuesday, with two French exams. Tuesday evening the graduates, parents and teachers gathered for the senior banquet (which involved a father/daughter & mother/son dance, complete with bubbles and the Lion King theme song). Wednesday is the awards ceremony and senior checkout (return all books, etc.). Thursday is graduation practice and a senior barbeque, and Friday is the big day with graduation at 5 p.m. Wow! What a blessing Hannah is to all of us. We are so excited for her as she celebrates four years of hard work in high school.

Grad photos & school critters...

This past week the seniors gathered, before they started their IB exams, to have grad photos taken. Wow - the end of the year is approaching so quickly, and Hannah is so excited about next year at Queen's University. I am taking deep breaths and praying a lot (for me, more than Hannah!). Also, a student found a really beautiful chameleon outside the biology lab on Friday and I was able to walk it down to Brian's room for a viewing. It was incredibly beautiful.

Last weekend, Brian and I went to the Laikipia region of Kenya (near Mount Kenya), to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. We traveled with our friends Devin and Sue Skiman-Jones and were blessed with amazing views of Mount Kenya, and sightings of many amazing birds and animals. We visited the Chimpanzee Sanctuary in the conservancy (the only one of its kind in Kenya) and a Northern White Rhino Sanctuary (where 4 of the world's last 7 northern white rhinos live). It was a wonderful weekend.

A busy and blessed day...

A few weeks ago we spent a wonderful Saturday down at the IDP camp, engaged in three very meaningful activities. We dropped off new furniture for the children's room at the community library and began to inventory hundreds of new books. Our ISK kids were involved with building the foundations of two Habitat for Humanity homes. And the same group of kids, which had raised about $300, spent a few hours installing a playground for the IDP kids. You wouldn't believe how excited the kids were to see the swings, monkey bars and tires. They couldn't wait to try it all out! What a blessing to be involved with such a wonderful group of people.
